Remembering Frances

27/09/2024

We wish to pay tribute to the fantastic Frances Heaton who has sadly passed away at the age of 103. We had the pleasure of meeting Frances during the pandemic, at which point she became a staunch campaigner, and is now the face of Care Rights UK on the homepage of our website.

We’ve had the privilege of Frances sharing her story with us, sharing the impact of feeling trapped and isolated in her care home during lockdown, and producing videos including a poem about her time in care in lockdown, and a video for our previous End Isolation in Care campaign. You can read Frances describing her story here.

Frances on her 103rd birthday.

I had the privilege of interviewing Frances for a campaign video about the impact of isolation in care during the pandemic. It was an honour to have known and worked with her. She was a steadfast campaigner for the rights of people in care and became the voice of so many. Her determination was inspiring. Frances was a true matriarch who will be sorely missed.
